All citizens of Chile, regardless of the duration of their stay, and all foreigners who stay in the country for at least 60 consecutive days may have to pay the national sales tax (19%) when checking out. To receive tax exemption, foreign citizens must pay for their stay upon entry in foreign currency (not Chilean pesos) or with a credit card issued abroad and present a valid passport along with the migration card they received upon entry into the country. If a person subject to paying the tax and another exempt from the same share a room, the rate may be applied to the entire room. This property will not accommodate hen, stag or similar parties. Please inform Alto Balmaceda in advance of your expected arrival time. Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply. Tax legislation of the country: Based on local tax laws, Chilean citizens (and foreigners residing in the country) must pay an additional 19% VAT. To be exempt from this fee, guests must pay the amount of the stay in USD and present a copy of the immigration card and passport. Guests paying for their stay in local currency will also be charged this fee. In case of no-show at the establishment, the invoice will be issued in local currency and will include said VAT supplement.
