Tourists will receive a refund for the VAT Tax, when they pay for their accommodations. To receive the refund, they must pay with a foreign credit card or provide their passport number and confirm their address. Government VAT of 21% is not included in the price and will be charged to all Argentinian citizens at the time of check-out. Foreign citizens staying in the country on a tourist visa are exempt from paying this tax. To qualify for tax exemption, the traveler must present a valid passport and pay for services rendered with a card issued outside of Argentina or by bank transfer from another country.
