A number of beach pavilions are open all year round, so you can get a breath of fresh air on the beach even in autumn or the winter season, before warming up with a hot chocolate. The other day, you opt for a walking or cycling trip through the countryside, where farmlands and bulb fields alternate. Also be sure to visit the Zwanenwater, where you can spot many special birds. For a day out, Alkmaar is definitely worth a visit. The historic market square is the place to enjoy Dutch cheese with a good smooth beer.

But you can also walk into the always lively village centre of Callantsoog. There is a wide choice of good restaurants. And it is great browsing in the various shops and boutiques. The supermarket is open 7 days a week and is less than a 10-minute walk away
