The picturesque village of Mariapfarr in Lungau in Salzburgerland is considered the sunniest municipality in Austria. Wonderful views and the best weather do promise holiday enjoyment at any time of year!

In winter, hundreds of kilometers of pistes in several ski areas in the Mariapfarr region and the surrounding area invite you to go skiing. The skiing holiday starts on the Fanningberg in Weißpriach-Mariapfarr with 30 kilometers of pistes with a mixture of easy and difficult pistes at 1,497-2,150 m. Fun on the mountain is definitely included on the pistes in the Grosseck-Speiereck ski area with 50 kilometers of pistes! The Grosseck - Speiereck ski area is particularly family-friendly and has practice slopes, children's areas and a freeride area. Skiing in the Katschberg-Aineck ski area with 70 kilometers of pistes offers selected race runs and its own powder slopes. The well-known Obertauern ski area with 100 kilometers of pistes offers a wide variety of pistes at over 1,750 metres above sea level and its own apres-ski mile.

Cross-country skiing in Mariapfarr and the surrounding area offers special pleasure and variety with the Lignitz Höhenloipe with a 6 km circuit for skating and classic, and the Preber Höhenloipe with a leisurely or sporty, ambitious 9 km trail. The region also offers guided ski tours and snowshoeing on the surrounding slopes and through the snow-covered winter landscape.

Summer promises cosy excursions for the whole family, a variety of alpine tours and breathtaking, challenging summit tours. The unique landscape also magically attracts cyclists, mountain bikers and e-bikers. Sheer endless trails through wide, cool valleys, spectacular summit tours, gravel bike challenges and cycle trails are sure to delight athletes and connoisseurs alike.

In summer, you can not only swim in over 60 sparkling mountain lakes in Salzburger Lungau, but also in the many varied swimming and outdoor pools, such as the adventure pool in Mauterndorf, the outdoor pool in St. Michael im Lungau or the BadeINSEL in Tamsweg. In summer and winter, the Samsunn Vitality and Wellness Centre in Mariapfarr also offers plenty of swimming fun and relaxation with an outdoor pool and a modern sauna area!

Directly in the village or in the neighbouring communities of Mauterndorf and Tamsweg there are sufficient shopping facilities for daily needs as well as a large selection of restaurants
