À propos de cette tournée

Did you know that you can actually stay in Peru’s Amazon Jungle? The giant jungle – which spans 8 countries and is home to more than 2 million Indigenous people – is the perfect place to explore, with a lodge to return home to every day. Walk through the rainforest, cruise along waterways, spot wildlife you’ve never seen before and learn about the healing properties of native plants. This short break is a great way to get to know the friendly people and the amazing creatures that call the Amazon home. On Short Breaks, you maintain a good level of independence and freedom, with the added bonus of having the details sorted out for you. You’ll have lots of free time and you won’t be accompanied by a Trip Leader. This means that all included activities and tours will be run by different local Intrepid partners, and these may operate independently from each other. The included activities and transfers will operate on a join-in basis, which means that you could have your Adventure all to yourself, or others may join you along the way. If you would prefer to travel in a group with a dedicated Trip Leader, just get in touch with your booking agent and they will take you through some alternatives.Rooms at the lodges are simple but comfortable, and there are flushing toilets, showers, mosquito nets and kerosene lamps. However, there is no electricity in the rooms. Electricity will only be available in the common areas, and likely at a designated time, not all day. Lodge staff are primarily local, including the multilingual guides who can teach you all about the area's rich flora and fauna. As we offer daily departures of this trip, we may need to use an alternative lodge occasionally. In this case, you’ll be advised prior to travel. Alternative lodge details can be found in the 'Accommodation' section of the Essential Trip Information. The Amazon Jungle can be very hot and humid, so it's important to drink plenty of water and wear light cotton clothing. Make sure you also bring tropical-strength insect repellent. This trip includes a full day's walk in the jungle. Even though the paths are well defined, this still requires a reasonable level of fitness, and sturdy walking shoes or light hiking boots are essential.
